With each successive year, POW Fest's profile in the Oregon film community grows. For example, in July 2009, Oscar nominated director Kathryn Bigelow visited Portland to personally introduce her highly acclaimed film THE HURT LOCKER, raising awareness and funds on behalf of POW Fest's mission to promote and create opportunities for women working in the film industry. Over 500 entries were submitted to the 2010 festival by an international pool of talented women filmmakers, from which over 50 films will be chosen for screening at this year's POW Fest.

It is 2010, and Bigelow is only the FIRST woman director to win the coveted Director's Guild of America award. Clearly, there are still in-roads to be made for women filmmakers. Supporting POW Fest's mission benefits all in Oregon's film industry: we are reaching out to the community to encourage you to help us realize our mission through generous sponsorship. Whether you can contribute $200 or $10,000, our sponsors are critical to our success. All contributions to POW Fest are tax deductible, but more importantly they are a way to participate in one of the most exciting and important events in Oregon film.
